We've shown success playing in this formation eg. Texas A & M 2012

This year, we have huge depth at DE and at the OLB and ILB positions. DT is a spot of weakness especially with the recent injuries at that position. Put beckwith and welter on the field with lamar louis/debo and kwon. Either way, I have faith in Chavis

You need a dominant NG to run a 3-4 and we don't have that.

We will run a mustang package that may have a 3 man front at times, but there's no way we'll employ an actual 34.

We don't have what it takes to run an ideal 4-3 either do we? At least 3-4 puts more talent on the field with our LB depth. I mean we at least gotta take a look at it

LSU playing a 3-4 would be very odd to me.

Also we don't have the players for it, you're right or DTs aren't a big strength, and we certainly don't have a big NG space eater

The 3-4 and 4-3 front sevens are built completely differently. And we have a 4-3/4-2-5 hybrid defense personnel wise. We could not transition to a 3-4. Our linebackers aren't big enough, nor are our DE/DT.

No. We dont have the personnel to run this

Should be /thread

One injury shouldnt change our whole scheme.

I could see us in nickel and mustang frequently...but thats also the way the game has trended recently

We've never used a 3-4. We've used a 3-2-6 against teams like A&M.

we need a space eater in the middle who can constantly stand up double teams if were going to do it every down.

Guys, we have no NG, Our DE's would be OLB's in a 3-4. All of our DT's would be DE's in a 3-4. Please

If it wasn't so drastically different to learn the plays and roles, I'd have to disagree with the rant. But it would be a fricking disaster to switch at this point. In a 4-3, Welter is your run stopper. So he's a better option than Lacoture as NG?
