I think larry is a idiot.
As a fan I don't care.
But its the coaches and the starters that want to get some reps in against other teams in pre season games. When they don't want to any more thats where I will be.
Larry should remember HIS playing days and then comment.

It's football. Players may get hurt. Should they not do training camp to protect from injuries? 49rs have a few RB's that went out. It's such a stupid argument

I'm not sure you are comprehending his argument if that's what you think.

As foolish as GW has been, I don't think he's foolish enough to give Goodell any reason to think he's not on the up and up.

Williams is a POS but he's not insane.

He's not gonna bring more attention to himself by trying to kill the QB in a damn preseason game.

I didn't read the article. I'm making assumptions based on every other talking shed that hates on preseason. So I just clicked and saw the headline, and I still stand by my statement. You don't sit players out of fear of injury or "Bad Blood." That's cowardice and dumb. And as the others have pointed out, there won't be any bounty type hits in this one. Blitzes sure, but he isn't going to frick himself to spite his old boss.

I don't think any starter should play more than a few snaps in the first preseason game, regardless.

I think this will be a non issue. Shouldn't change any players playing time.

I don't think all startes need to sit, but I have no problems with Drew and a couple of the older vets on the o-line sitting even if they were all healthy. No sense in possibly taking a beating in preseason.

I remember Payton telling Williams to blitz the hell out of Alex Smith and the 49ers in the 2011 opening preseason game because Harbaugh didn't call Payton before the game. Just wouldn't put it past Williams to dial up a few blitzes tomorrow.

okay, so the coaches won't be all chummy with Gregg Williams before or after the game.

anyone would expect that.

and it isn't like any of the players will have anything to do with Williams either.

none of the Saints current defensive players were on the Super Bowl team from 2009 or any other year Williams was with the Saints.

well maybe Humber was.

but you know.... who cares anymore?

I'm told you guys we need to sit our starters Gregg williams doesn't care to get ban again because if there is a bounty on us the league will just ignore it cause the NFL hates us

Williams may be an idiot, but I don't think he's that stupid to draw attention to himself in his first game back after two years. I see Larry's argument, but he's definitely overreacting. I'm sure Fisher has told him by now that he doesn't want any BS out of Williams, especially during this 1st preseason game.

We just need to pull a Graham running into Payton ala 2011 in him. That'll learn him!!

You guys are worrying over nothing. It's a preseason game. Players might go down. It happens EVERY YEAR. That's called life

Seems like we are worrying over something, then.

That's stupid. Just about every player on defense knows today that if you go out on a headhunting mission, you have the same chance of getting hurt on a collision as the person you are targeting. Even if that is the wish of a coach, there's not many guys in the NFL willing to put their neck on the line for some petty vendetta.

"I would say the final straw was the last two weeks of the season -- of the Detroit, San Francisco (playoff games), you know, Gregg kept coming to Sean every day and wanted his contract extension and wanted his extension done. And Sean said, well, we'll talk about it at the end of the season, well knowing what direction Sean was going in.

"And the last week of the season, it's all in the papers, you know, Gregg has gone to St. Louis, it's his best friend Jeff Fisher, you know, ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom, trying to squeeze Sean, trying to squeeze (GM) Mickey (Loomis) to get his contract. And the day after the playoff game that we lost against San Francisco, he went into Sean's office and says I need to know right now, I need my contract, I've got to let Jeff know what I'm doing. And Sean said, you're not going to get a contract here. I think it's best go to St. Louis with your friend Jeff. And that was it. ...

"It didn't end pretty. It didn't end nice. I'm sure that Gregg has a lot of animosity towards me now."
