Should be open for next weekend, they were shooting for the 10th but couldn't make that happen...

Need those complimentary chips and salsa to help fill the bellies of that army you're raising.

I finally tried this place. I thought it was pretty good. I had a combo plate which included a chile relleno, taquito, and tamale. The tamale was definitely a more unique style than I have had before but it was good. The tamale itself was almost as big as the chile relleno. One of the things I find I don't like about tamales I get at restaurants are that they are often too dense or heavy. This one was tender and had a kind of shredded pork filling instead of a ground up meat mix.
Oh and the salsa was good not great. It definitely had a zing kinda flavor to it. Not sure what the mystery ingredient is to give that flavor but is a bit different from other salsas.
Very clean on the inside as opposed to El Mescal. I will be going back and hope that they can get enough business to stay open in that location.

Try La Michoacana in Gonzales. Its attached to a Mexican grocery store. None of the signs in the store or restaurant are in English

Stick with Casa Maria on Airline. It's across from where the Athletic Center used to be. The best place for chips and salsa! The chips are thin, and the salsa is legit... The waitstaff told me some old Mexican lady comes in and makes the salsa fresh every morning! (The white cheese dip is good too)

High priced Tex Mex comparable to Las Palmas. I like Tex Mex but we are talking about 2 different things. No thank you.
