I just saw a clip on TV of Obama giving a speech to a crowd yesterday. He was ranting and raving about out of control govt spending. I got really dizzy and light headed. I think I was experiencing cognitive dissonance. Can someone explain it to me?

Yeah the big O is really hatin all that spending.
The total federal debt of the U.S. government has now increased more than $7 trillion during the slightly more than five and a half years Barack Obama has been president.
That is more than the debt increased under all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Bill Clinton combined, and it is more debt than was accumulated in the first 227 years of this nation's existence--from 1776 through 2003.

Not to play to his defense, because yes, he has increased our debt far more than any other. But I could buy a brand new porshe for around $5,000 in the 70's. Money aint what it used to be. So saying $7T now versus $7T in 1950 is quite different.
Hell, the next president may increase it $20T...

This also can be said for tax dollars collected by the treasury.

True, but it seems each new president increases the debt a bit more than the last. Didn't Bush increase it more than the other presidents as well? It'll be hard to top Obama, but I'm sure Washington will find a way.

One thing that can be said about the tax pool is that it is the only thing shrinking when it comes to our federal govt.

There is a difference between increasing the debt 10% and increasing it 100%. No President has increased the debt at Obama's rate.

Constant statements like these from Obama should convince anyone interested that he has mental problems and should be led away in a straightjacket for an immediate full evaluation.

Thank you. I was about to say that I remember the 70s and you couldn't buy a brand new Buick for 5K.

A large chunk of the growth in government spending has to do with the trillion dollar unfunded mandates Obama inherited such as Medicare Part D and No Child Left Behind.
The lesson is that both parties are terrible and will continuously increase government spending.

He also supports the export import bank, even though he opposed it as a congressman.

both of which are examples of the sort of horse shite you get when a Republican president "reaches across the aisle"
It's not like Bush did that by himself.

They were Republican sponsored bills, passed by Republican controlled Congresses and signed by a Republican President.
They are the pieces of legislation that chased many fiscal conservatives out of the party.

In 1976 an Olds Cutlass was about 1/3 the cost of a Porche. You were off by more than a dollar or two. After a couple of used cars I bought my first new car in 74. It was a Chevy Nova. Piece of crap. But it was nice having a new car without a note. I think I paid something like 3K.
