I'm looking for a website with cloud storage to keep all of my digital pictures safe. I have been using an external hard drive in case my computer were to crash or something, but I noticed the other day it is about 10 feet from my computer, so that doesn't do me much good in a fire or flood. It's a lifetime of memories I'd hate to lose.

I've looked somewhat into google drive and I know Amazon provides storage. I have about 10-15 GBs of data that needs to be stored, which exceeds most sites free capacity. I don't mind paying for it as long as its reasonable and easy. I would also prefer to keep them organized in folders the way I have them rather than 5,000 pictures just randomly stored.

Any suggestions or experience with this?

Google Drive or One Drive.

Cloud is okay, but certainly not a fully reliable backup solution. Personally I would copy them to a jump drive periodically and keep it at your office or somewhere else.

My wife and I recently came to this conclusion as well and started uploading pics from phones and computer to a joint account on flickr. Run by yahoo but seems pretty solid this far, tons of space.

Any charge for flickr? What kind of space do they offer?

Does Picasa require your photos to be accessible? I don't want all of my pictures on google plus or any social media.

I use Carbonite for pics and documents. $59/year for unlimited storage that automatically syncs.

The photo experts on the forums suggest three completely separate means for backup. I take that to mean local, cloud and a remote backup service.

I like smugmug. Will also let you customize the site so you have some say in how they are presented.

create a facebook account that you never accept friend requests for. Then upload all of your pictures to it. If you want the pictures later you can have facebook email all of them to you.

Microsoft's OneDrive seems like the best deal going these days (excluding promotional credits like getting 50GB free with Dropbox with a Samsung phone purchase).

You get 15GB free. You can get an additional 100GB for $1.99/month I think.

I just bought a year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 on ebay for like $70. It comes with 5 "licenses" to share. Each user gets a full terabyte of cloud storage. 1TB for me, my wife, our "house," and then 1TB for my parents and my sister.

On a per user basis, that's $1.45/month for over 1TB of cloud storage each. Just an FYI for anyone interested. Oh, and it comes with the latest and greatest versions of Office products.

Just signed up with Picturelife last month for the same reasons. I have a few clouds and a lot of local storage, but Picturelife will index all photos from your pc, phone, and online services and keep them organized like you have them.
