MSNBC panel discusses more evidence of Rand Paul's rising influence

Rand Paul and the word plagiarism made it into another headline recently. But not in the way you think. It turned out that the libertarian Republican and likely 2016 candidate has been a victim of plagiarism by other Republicans around the country, and not just once.
"BuzzFeed" has found at least eight candidates, including two Senate contenders who have pretty blatantly ripped off the freshman Kentucky senator.
For example, T.W. Shannon, a Senate candidate in Oklahoma seems to have used very similar language to Paul when writing about the Department of Education. Here's what Rand Paul wrote on his Web site, quote, "More money, more bureaucracy and more government intervention are eroding this nation`s educational standards." And here`s what Shannon wrote, quote, "More money, more bureaucracy and more government intervention have eroded educational standards
Another example, here`s Rand Paul`s language on the topic of incumbency. Quote, "Long-term incumbency leads to politicians who seem to care more about what is for their -- what is best for their career than what is best for their country." And here`s what Michael Dreikorn who's running to replace Congressman Trey Radel in Florida wrote. Quote, "Long term incumbency leads to politicians who seem to care more about what is best for their career than what is best for America."
The list goes on and on and on -- gun control, abortion, energy, education and more. According to "BuzzFeed", at least two politicians simply copied Rand Paul entire issues section from his Web site.
So, what does all of this say about Paul`s place in the Republican Party? After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattering. And you don`t see too many people copying verbatim of Jeb Bush`s homework.

why did they have to start off with the plagiarizing black guy?

I wonder if they "the media" are floating a balloon, like McCain in 2008, that will be easily defeated in 2016, or if there is an honest fascination with the guy?

The latter, gotta remember Chris Matthews was a goldwater kid.
Posted on 8/5/14 at 7:36 am to DeltaDoc
the obvious answer is that they're floating a balloon
i would guess they're probably confident that the civil rights act stuff will bury him
edit: not that it's an "obvious" question, just that the answer i would assume is correct is the first one

Id live the Paul rhetoric to become mainstream in the GOP. It's better than the Santorum or McCain rhetoric

What scares me the most is the media holding onto Aqua Buddha silently for now. They will wait until after he wins the primaries and then hammer him as the anti-Christ until people are afraid.

who in 2008 was going to beat obama? No one. It was time for a democratic president, and mccain was a shitty candidate but I don't think there was a reagan sitting on the bench somewhere.

a more established Ron Paul begs to differ.

The deck would have been seriously stacked against any Republican candidate, but Obama was beatable if someone would have pushed hard and exposed all of his lying bullshite.
McCain was capable of winning it all until his stunt where he suspended his campaign to return to DC to deal with the financial crisis.

The '08 election was everything but a political election. It was a popularity contest and nothing else. McCain wasn't the pick of the litter from the Reps but it didn't make any difference anyway. Jesus Christ himself could have been the Rep candidate and he still would have lost.
Qualifications to be the next president had zero effect on those hell bent to elect the first black president.

After eight years of W, anybody the Democrats nominated was going to beat McCain.

Probably true but even Hillary with her long track record in politics couldn't beat a virtual unknown in the Dem party. It was a popularity contest among the Dems first and then the nation second.
Obama had absolutely no resume for being president of this country, none.

The only thing worse than Obama would've been McCain.

Aren't all elections popularity contests to some degree?

If Obama had no resume to qualify him for the White House, W who had less political experince than Obama, must have also been unqualified.

Yeah, being governor of Texas is no comparison to being a community organizer when it comes to experience for running the country.
What an idiotic post by you.

All you've done is expose you ignorance. FYI, W had been in office for 6 years at the state level before he became President, while Obama had been in office for 12 years at both the state and federal level before he became President.

Seriously, the absolute stupidest thing I have read on here in months. And you reply to a previous poster about his 12 years in state and federal government. But no mention of him abstaining at a record pace and doing absolutely nothing. Wish I could hit an ignore button. Good God!!

I guess juvenile ad hominem attacks are the only thing you're left with when the facts contradict you.

who would have beat obama? Be specific. I didn't see anyone running that would have beaten obama.
Ron paul - he is just not electable, and he knew it.
mitt romney - we know that wouldn't have happened.
Huckabee - we will never know but I don't think he could have bested obama in 2008.
