The San Francisco 49ers' New Football Stadium Is a Dud

What I did notice was that the parking lots around the stadium were at a standstill and that no one seemed to have thought through the public transportation system at all. The stadium is being fed by a light rail line that travels slowly around Silicon Valley. At the Levi’s Stadium station, thousands of people trying to access four different train lines were all funneled through the same area. Insanely, the path to get on the trains required people to walk across the tracks.
As a result, the whole station had to come to a halt every time a new train arrived so that it could be filled up and then sent on its way. It typically takes me 15 minutes to drive from my house in Mountain View to the stadium. It took 90 minutes to get home by train. To get back to San Francisco, fans would then need to catch a larger train from Mountain View and ride another hour home. Things should get really exciting when the whole stadium is opened up for the 49ers and 70,000 people, or about one-third more than on Saturday.

The stadium itself is not an architectural gem, but it’s also not ugly. But with Levi’s Stadium, the 49ers had a chance to make a real statement. The team had shifted from the old, decrepit Candlestick Stadium, caught in a no-man’s-land between San Francisco and the monied suburbs of Silicon Valley. The 49ers could have built something as beautiful at AT&T Park—something with character and unique architectural elements. Instead, they built something that is nice, functional, and unspectacular.

No excuse for the 449ers and Bay Area to screw up that badly.

Meh, some hippy is just made the trains aren't that great. Big deal!

AT&T Park is the nicest looking stadium I have been to, maybe they are comparing it to that?

Bay residents also missed the fine print about Hell's Angels providing security for games.

No, just the last big thread we had on that dump you were the only one defending it
You said it had unique architectural elements to it that was Northern California like and the article said:

oh well, maybe the stadium does suck. who cares.

I live in the Bay Area 15 mins from the stadium and they are spot on with the pub trans. The light rail barely goes anywhere, it's slow, and has low capacity per train.
Compared to the A's/Raiders stadium and the Giants stadium locations it's atrocious. They'll need to expand the Bart and Caltrain to make it work long term IMO.

I like the open air plazas a lot. Not everything has to be the Roman Coliseum. It fits both the culture of the team and the personality of the area and if you clowns would bother reading the linked article on the technology you'd see this stadium is ahead of its time in many ways considering the era we live in currently where many teams are struggling to get people to go to the games (a problem that will only get worse for teams who fall behind the standard this stadium will set).
I know you all hate the 49ers and all but try to be open minded for once.

I must say, I never understood the people that were raving about the stadium having a "green roof." I get that it's "green" and "new" and all of that, but ultimately it's just this:

What decade do you live in?
Hippie is not only antiquated but "associated with a subculture involving a rejection of conventional values."
Silicon Valley and S.F.??? The most conventional and wealthiest geek nerd techies in America???
You are totally out of touch with who lives in the Bay Area. S.F. is the makers of your Google and daily tech toys.
This isn't 1960's bro. Get a clue and travel. Shite.

It's California. Plant some grass on a roof, call it green and most of them will jizz all over themselves.

And you left out this:
People will also find it easy to make their way through the large concourses and to find food and drinks at dozens upon dozens of different eateries, serving things that range from curry and BBQ to burgers and porchetta sandwiches. The seats are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean, and the sound system and screen are fine.
For anyone who has been to the Superdome or my team's - Oakland Coliseum or a multitude of old crappy eating and crappy bathroom NFL stadiums...this is a major plus.

So a brand new stadium in its first ever event causes transportation issues and it's a $1.3b dud.
That's some deep shite.
