Looking for recommendations on a new edger. I have a cheap Poulon that's been working for 7 or so years and now they are discontinued. I think I only paid $90 or so. All I can find are heavy duty edgers running over $200. Does anybody know of a smaller, less expensive edger for a relatively small yard? I think Sears has a Troy Bilt for right at $200. Cheapest I see anywhere.

Use a weed wacker? Nobody uses edgers anymore... I never liked having to adjust the left wheel height on curbs and all the dirt on the sidewalk

I have the echo pas system. Head unit, quick feed trimmer and edger for $300. I use the edger about once every 4-5 wks and the trimmer every week for edging purposes. Just turn the trimmer side ways and go to town... fyi, you will mangle your edge until you get used to using the trimmer as an "edger".
got mine at k&d hardware.
FWIW i like using the edger b/c it doesn't throw shite everywhere.
I have a small yard and i have the smallest head unit echo makes in the PAS system. Never have any power issues. Also, have the power pruner for trees... aka small chainsaw. It went through 3-4" branches with no issues.

I have a walk-behind, and I only use it to create edges on yards that I am cutting. For general maintenance, I use the weed eater. It is just a waste if time unless your grass is halfway over the sidewalk

I have a Mclean and love it, but it was about $300 if i remember correctly, but it makes damn sharp edges

I use my weedeater on the first pass and it looks very good. I just like passing the edger one time for an even cleaner look. Of course, I'm weird that way and I also have a gap of about an inch between my drive and the grass. Almost like a small drainage system. Thanks, but I don't care for the attachment systems.

Then look on CL for one. I got mine for $35, but it wasn't running at the time. An hour later that 2.5hp Briggs was purring like a 2.5hp Briggs. It is actually a mail order Sears & Roebuck edger

Probably good advice right here. I guess I do it out of habit, but I swear it looks much better. Also, I hate using the weedeater the first time in the yard after winter. Edger knocks it right out, dirt and all.
