How long does it take to get over strep throat?

Never been so damn miserable in my life. Was diagnosed Friday night, and was unable to sleep last night because my throat was so swollen, yet my mouth keeps producing saliva thus inducing swallowing which is insanely painful.
Never had strep before, so no clue how long it takes to get over. Currently taking 875 mg of Amoxicillin twice a day. Any other suggestions to help get rid of this crap?

I haven't had it years, but for my son it would take about 4-5 days after starting antibiotics

probably about a week to completely get over it.
what sucked for my son as soon as the antibiotic would wear off, the strep would come right back. did this a few times, then they removed his tonsils and adenoids

I swear I've had every strain... mine usually gets bearable after I start antibiotics within 2 days, and then totally untracable by like 5-7.

7-10 days to fully recover probably. Fever should break within a day or two.

you should have got the antibiotic shot. it works faster.

I had it last month, was the worst its ever been. was out of office 4 days total. Lost 13 lbs in 2 weeks because it was so bad I couldn't eat or drink. I would gargle some prescription syrup that would numb my mouth for long enough to drink warm broth.
Its been a month and still don't feel 100%. I am convinced these bugs are getting stronger

I get it every time I hook up with a new chick.
So I get it like 2-3 times a week
