Why doesn't MLB show camera angles like in this vine video?

I'm not talking about doing most shots like this, but they could do 1/4th of the pitches like this during a TV broadcast because I think its really hard to get a feel for how incredibly hard these dudes are throwing the ball until you see it from this POV.

The behind the pitcher (from the outfield) angle really makes it look easy, imo.

Honestly not a bad idea at all. Would help people realize how hard it is.

I played slow pitch softball on a team with a dude who probably would have been drafted out of high school if he hadn't torn his rotator cuff. He threw me an 85 mile per hour fastball during bp one time, and I wanted to throw up.

Having the umpire wear a camera would be awesome for the viewing experience of the sport but I think they would encounter just a little resistance from the MLB Umpire's Union...

Yeah, the gift that these MLB pitchers have is scary as shite in real life.

I remember in high school going up against Ben Sheets and after the first pitch was a high and tight fastball, my heart started beating so fast. I mean, I was used to the fast cage at Skip Bertmans but it wasn't the same. You have to have nerves of steel to really stay in the box on MLB pitchers.

and I think he was only throwing in the low 90's!

In high school Jake Locker threw low to mid 90s and beaned 6 batters in the first inning once

Luckily we didn't face him that game. I don't think it would be worth going up there if you hit towards the bottom of the order and he had already beaned 6 of your teammates.

Because that isn't a camera man. They couldn't stay on that camera(that's if the ump union got paid HUGE), but i could see them cutting to it often and showing more of the replays from that view

I like it

Once upon a time, they used to have catchers wear cameras.

That's actually awesome, IMO. I'd rather watch a whole game from that angle

great illustration of why hitting a baseball thrown by a pro might be the toughest single act in sports

Meh, we already have f/x tracking system which shows the umpires suck.

i stood in the box against my friend who was in the minor leagues at the time and he eventually had a pretty good Major league career for several teams…let me tell you its impossible for an average joe to even get the bat started against that. it was a freaking laser.

If they moved to a system where the f/x tracker called strikes, they could have a camera man behind the catcher with an HD camera. Now that would be awesome.

Absolutely. There's nothing that compares to the sound the ball makes when it's blazing to and by you in the blink of an eye.
