The Hollywood Reporter has added this brief, but pretty significant bit: "Sources say the film will be a reboot focusing on female Ghostbusters." The original story follows:
The Hollywood Reporter brings word today that Sony has zeroed in on a director for the long-gestating Ghostbusters 3 and their first choice is none other than Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig. They report that no formal negotiations have taken place, but the studio has its eyes clearly set on the director to take on the sequel.
To date, Feig has directed three feature films with a fourth currently in production. His first, 2006's Unaccompanied Minors, brought in just $21 million at the global box office, but his two most recent films, 2011's Bridesmaids and 2013's The Heat, have grossed $288 million and $229 million worldwide, respectively. His next film, Spy, opens May 22, 2015.
Set to begin production next year in New York City, the storyline is rumored to focus on a new generation of Ghostbusters with cameos from the original stars written into the script. Bad Teacher and "The Office" writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg wrote the current draft.

You are to blame.
And I never paid a dime to see those movies. Even if they were good, why bring this shite to Ghostbusters? Some of the worst news I've heard in awhile.

Every one of you who ever thought Ghostbusters 3 in any of it's suggested incarnations was a good idea is to blame.
The old guys coming back, the Paul Rudd/Seth Rogan idea, and this bullshite are all terrible. Just let 2 be the end.

I normally don't care if they reboot movies, because I just won't see them.
Putting 4 women as Ghostbusters, when you know damn well Melissa McCarthy will be one, signifies the apocalypse and will ruin my childhood.
Side note, I'm crazy excited for the 30th anniversary re-release for 1 week in theaters at the end of the month. I wasn't born when Ghostbusters came out, and it quickly became my favorite movie when I was little. Seeing it on the big screen will be awesome.

They'll probably throw Rebel Wilson in there too.

How many times in the movie will she fall over from the weight of the backpack? I'll set the O/U at 6.

I hope the movie is an epic failure and the producers lose millions of dollars.

You'll more than likely get your wish.

Prepare to be disappointed. They've got this trash down to a science at this point.
The movie could be a worldwide flop and the producers will still be rolling in enough money to buy top shelf coke for years to come.

Then I hope they OD on their ill gotten coke.
