It's genetics

If this has never been an issue for you or your family, you probably won't be interested. I am.

quote:

"In the youngest data set, they were able to identify with 96 percent accuracy whether or not a participant had attempted suicide, based on blood test results."

The SKA2 gene works to inhibit negative thoughts and control impulsive actions. When there isn't enough of it, or it is altered, the brain releases abnormal levels of the stress hormone, cortisol.

Previous studies have shown that people who try to kill themselves, or who commit suicide, have an abnormal cortisol release.

People can't accept that maybe they had a mental illness, maybe they were looking for attention, or just maybe they were batshit crazy..!!

I think the research is showing the genetic root for the batshit craziness.

I think that's exactly what they are saying though. They have found a link between those crazy actions and an abnormal amount of cortisol in the system

There's another easy blood test to determine risk of suicide:

A)Take a sharp object, like a razor blade, and slice across wrist until blood appears

B)If you did "A" you are at risk of suicide

The connection between an individual's biochemistry and their behavior will have an earth shattering effect in the field of criminal law. Get ready all you prosecutors, defense attorneys and ... criminals.

The amount of exclamation points in your posts makes me think you're a little off in the head possibly.

I've started to accept the fact that it will never be easy and just something you learn to live with.

These threads always bring out the brightest, kindest, most empathetic minds on the OT.

Cool research OP, no family history here that I'm aware of but I still find this fascinating and encouraging.

You will get to a point where it doesn't cripple you, and you can go on with your life. Slowly it'll get better.
