Not necessarily bad, just means you don't follow the NFL that closely.

Of course the Cowboys would do this.

In the article:

The total value of the deal is worth $109 million with $40 million guaranteed and a $10 million signing bonus, sources said Wednesday. Smith will make $32 million in the first three years of the new contract.

They aren't.

The only way this is possible if he has 2 years left on his deal and it is just adding 6 years on.

in the world of idiotic contracts, this really isnt that bad. at least Smith is an excellent tackle

He's also extremely young. This deal isn't really bad, he projects to be a top 2-3 LT in the league over the next decade.

Starting to creep into soccer-like contract numbers... (the terms are different which drastically change things but you're seeing the big numbers)

He's one of the best LTs in the game and only 23 years old.

That's awesome of the Cowboys, provided he stays healthy.

He definitely deserves it but I think it's more just odd seeing those numbers together like that

Faux money folks. Don't get caught up in the years or the big dollar amount.
