Searched and didn't see anything

quote:

Streets turned into rivers and parts of UCLA turned into lakes after a massive water main break sent 8 to 10 million gallons of water gushing through parts of Los Angeles.

quote:

Just before rush hour Tuesday, the 93-year-old water main burst under the world-famous Sunset Boulevard.

quote:

The UCLA campus, on the city's west side, suffered much of the damage. The flooding covered the court of Pauley Pavilion, home to the Bruins' basketball, volleyball and women's gymnastics teams. The facility had just gone through a multi-million-dollar renovation two years ago. "Unfortunately, Pauley Pavilion took quite a bit of water," Chancellor Gene Block told reporters Tuesday night. "It's painful."

quote:

"Unfortunately we lost a lot of water -- around 35,000 gallons a minute -- which is not ideal in the worst drought in the city's history," Los Angeles city councilman Paul Koretz said. "So we ask everybody to try harder to conserve water."

He'll be head of the relief fund in the louisiana area, I'm sure.

Maybe they'll change the name of the court from "John Wooden Court" to "Chris Guillot Court"

There's not much that better typifies California than a giant water main breaking during the worst drought in decades and flooding a flagship public university that has no money.

It's sad, but this could probably happen almost anywhere in our country. Our water lines are so old.

How so? I'm unfamiliar with what typifies Cali.

Is it that Cali has bad luck, what with natural disasters like mud slides, fires, and earthquakes?

Is it that Cali has bad workmanship in it's municipal infrastructure such that a massive water line breakage is a Murphy's Rule guarantee during a drought?

Maybe they can fly Guillot out to LA and get him to start a chant to help clean up move along. He is a real inspiring guy, and I believe he could really rally the troops in LA.

In New Orleans, so much water leaks from the water main that it is actually helping to prevent subsidence of the soil and keeping parts of the city from sinking further.

The lines in my neighborhood were just changed. They went from a 2" metal pipe, to an 8" plastic pipe.
