Not really sure how that happened, but I was not a fan of that stuff and thought of him about like Howard Jones.
I like the title track of Arc of a Diver a lot - and "While You See a Chance" is a guilty pleasure. I give him credit for trying something new and executing it well. You can hear the blues roots in that stuff if you listen closely - the pop sensibilities of the time drove a certain sound.
He was a lot rawer and edgier in his teens, but we all grow up, right?

I've seen Winwood twice, once with his own band and once with Clapton.
He is an amazingly talented musician. There is no bass player in his band so Winwood was playing the bass part on the organ pedals, while playing the organ, while singing. He was just a flurry of activity and it blows my mind how musicians can partition their brains into pieces like that and do 3 or 4 different things at the same time.
The show with Clapton was sort of a Blind Faith semi-reunion. It was magical to hear Can't Find My Way Home, Had to Cry Today and Presence of the Lord live after all these years.

Favorite. The Welcome to the Canteen version is great. Saw Traffic do it at Oak Mnt 15 or so years ago. After 1set, prolly 3/4 crowd spilt cause it wasn't SW doing pop songs. 2nd set really was sweet with about 1000 fans at stage.
Eta - was 1994- capaldi and winwood

I am not going to post any songs, because I am a Traffic fan for their volume of work, not just any one song or two. I play their first two albums and last album the most. It's a shame when Traffic had their reunion in 1994 that Dave Mason wasn't with them and that Chris Wood had passed away years ago.

always sardonically amused by the observation that Steve doesn't play Windwoods for the group..

"Talking Back to the Night' was a go to album in college. Surprised I didn't wear the grooves out of it. Got a chance to see Steve a few years ago at HOB New Orleans and it was a great show. It's unbelievable just how talented that guy is.
