Exactly. Basically I'm guessing Meyer talked to Newman and asked where LSU stood and he said good. Could be something serious, could be blowing smoke.

Reason UK is in bad shape is Newman is set on playing PG and supposedly UK may want him off guard due to bringing in Briscoe and having Ullis back (and possibly a PG twin)
Says Newman is also really tight with both Blakeney and Simmons.
I think LSU must be selling him on the idea that Q is a combo guard type while Malik could come in as the starting PG.
Jerry did say he wasn't ready to change his CB prediction from Kansas to LSU, but we are much more in the mix than he ever thought we were.

Hmmm tq going from starter back to coming off the bench after a break through season, kinda sucks for him. I just argued the other day about him needing another year to develop a consistent shot, now I'm kinda concerned (depending on draft grade) that he may seriously consider leaving depending on malik newman decision.

I think this is where Coach Jones' use of his guards almost interchangably helps. I don't think the PG label is anything more than a label or who brings the ball down court.... Doesn't mean the ball is in his hands more in half court sets.

You were basing it off his performance this year, I'm basing it off of him losing playing time next year. If no newman, then I have no concerns with tq leaving early.
On the pg issue, I've never thought of tq as a pg, although he seems to be handling the ball more this year. He seems to play better on the wing.
