Won't be one for a while. He can't enroll until end of semester anyway.

Why haven't we heard much regarding the recruitment of post players? Yes, we do need some upgrades at guard, but we're looking at Odo and Bridgewater getting significant playing time. This alone should serve as proof that LSU just isn't there yet

Maybe the fans are just too anxious about returning to relevancy, idk. I can't help but notice Arkansas fans have been way more patient with Anderson than we've been with Jones, and Anderson has more resources and walked into a much better situation.

Just a positiger rambling as I avoid studying for this test in the morning

Bridgewater only played significantly because Mickey AND Epps were out, same could be argued for Odo.

We're simply not going to have a roster like UK, ever. We're going to always have some college bench guys at best on scholarship because we're not going to stockpile 10 Top 100 players on a team at once. Keep in mind Odo, Bridgewater and Malone were all recruited and signed by Johnny Jones, so they aren't just some leftover from Trent Johnson.

Arkansas fans were doing the same thing last year we are this year with Jones against Mike Anderson. They were in Year 3 much like we were in Year 3 and they couldn't win games away from home and they had no hope of making the tournament at one point and ended up in the NIT just like we did. Arkansas fans are just as anxious to see their team return to the dance as we are seeing our return to the dance and are frustrated when we lose to inferior teams regardless of the reason.

Now in year 4 under Anderson they really have no more talent than we do, just happen to play more bodies. You can tell they are coached up better than our guys are. They look like the 2nd or 3rd best team in the conference so far meanwhile we look like the same ole 9-9 type team who will lose to anyone but may beat anyone.

Because they aren't a major need. We have Epps, Bridgewater, Malone, Mickey, Robinson, and Martin on roster for next year + the addition of Simmons. While we may lose Mickey and Martin, it's not a certainty that we'll lose both. Even then, we could roll Gray, Hornsby/Blakeney, TQ/Blakeney, Simmons, Robinson for next year.

They were after Elijah Thomas because he was a top level prospect. I doubt they'll go after another one seriously just to fill a scholarship. We're recruiting a lot wings because that's where we lack depth.

I see alot of talk that includes Blakeney assuming he will be on the roster. How can everyone be so sure? He hasn't even committed verbally. I really hope we get him. Why are we assuming/counting him in these discussions? Just curious.........

Mickey looks like a goner..........based off of how he has started this season.

Martin on the other hand is only good for a highlight reel dunk every few games. His is a poor shooter and struggles putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim in position to score. Sure, he gets into the paint but usual throws his body around and throws up something wild or gets blocked. I know the NBA drafts on potential but I havent seen enough from Martin to warrant a lottery pick. Thats just my opinion of course

Mickeys defense has regressed from last year so that doesn't help him

Some of it has to do with how we defend screens IMO.

Yea but watching some of them games he is either getting lost and letting his man I between him and the basket or he is just getting pushed out of position. Either way he has giving up way to many easy baskets for playing guys his size, once he is in the nba going against elite power forwards, they will score at will on him

I'm not assuming. I'm just saying he'd be apart of the starting 5 if he signed. That's why he was a slash (an what if situation).

Martin grew a lot as the season went on, so I can see him getting into a groove with his jump shot (because he's already scoring a lot of points).

This doesn't have anything to do with recruiting for this year, but I went watch St Louis U vs D2 Rockhurst last night and saw Miles Reynolds play. He was guard we eval'd last year before backing off for bigger fish.

I think he's going to be a pretty solid 4 year player in college. I'm certainly not saying I would have preferred him over anyone we signed. But I would not have been upset if we had the room last year to bring him in.

He's starting to assert himself as a scorer on a team that's looking for a go to guy. They play all 12 guys they have every night. He's making a case to stay in the rotation as they whittle it down. Scored 17 the other day and had double digits again last night.

Good for him. I'm happy with Patterson though. They'd be playing similar roles

excellent points. Yeah, I really thought LSU has Thomas with so many connections with him.

any word on Blakeney? seems like he's tearing it up on the court, but his recruitment has gone completely silent

Everyone's recruitment will likely go quiet. Early signing period over so kids will focus on season more and have less time for visits until big time conference games (and as their season winds down).

They are. I like keeping up with them. My parents both went there, and I live up here now so it's easy.

And I have a couple different avenues for getting free or cheap tickets.

I don't know why, but it wouldn't surprise me if Robertson still isn't ready next year. I know he got big, and now he's losing it. But it could be that he suffers by being....slow

Malone has the same problem, they are tall but too slow for the competition right now
