Avowed enemy of conservatives and champion of corporate welfare the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is reportedly contemplating backing Democrat Mary Landrieu over Bill Cassidy in the LA Senate race. Per the Hill, New York Times columnist Joe Nocera may have inadvertently leaked plans on the part of the Chamber to back Landrieu this November. Per other reports on Twitter, the Chamber is still staying mum and allegedly has not yet made a decision about who to endorse.

I hope this is true. The Chamber of Commerce is a much better fit for the party of welfare queens and I hope they make their new home with the Democrats. The Chamber of Commerce infection in GOP politics has been frustrating.

Everything I've read thus far indicates that they will.

I almost hope they do this.

Landrieu's camp has poured a ton of money into offensives on Cassidy and has yet to move the needle. The COC pouring even more money into it means money that isn't going to another race where it may do them some good.

is important to note.

Mary is relying on all this extra cash to flow in. at the current rate she is raising and spending, she doesn't make it the election.

That money only flows in if Mary appears viable AND the various other races are close enough that this likely means control of the Senate.

It's not looking like that, though, if the polls on every major Senate race over the weekend are correct.

Polling projects Republican takeovers of South Dakota, Louisiana, North Carolina, and a few other states and running very close in states like Michigan where there is an open seat.

The only two vulnerable Republican seats appear to be Kentucky (McConnell) and Georgia (Perdue-Nunn race), with Republicans leading in both.

These numbers project a Republican senate by count of 52-48 or 53-47.

If it looks like the Senate is gone, they pull that money from Mary and try to either buy influence with Republicans or prop up pro-amnesty Dems in other states.

Dunno, but Victor Bussie would support her. Except he's dead.
Every young La. person should learn about him. He had tremendous power in this state.

he can't even get his FEC filings in on time. had to cancel an event in BR to fly to DC to defend himself. how can we expect him to govern efficiently and effectively if he can't even get his FEC filings in on time.

Maness has no business being in this race.

This is his campaign manager: (which, after thought, are you his campaign manager? is this you?"

The rob maness campaign is amateur hour at it's finest.

You're a moron. The chamber of commerce is actually thinking about opposing Cassidy. What des that tell you?

You need to back off with the Maness pain train that is amateurism at its worst. Is Mary paying you off?

It appears that nola.com thinks so.

quote:

One motivation for the chamber to endorse Landrieu is that conservative Republicans have been opposing legislation supported by the business lobby. That's included the bipartisan immigration bill that passed the Senate in 2013, a well-financed highway and transportation bill, extension of the debt limit and reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank, which many businesses use to help finance their export business.

This year, the chamber has been working hard to limit the influence of tea party Republicans. It helped veteran Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., escape a major challenge by a tea party Republican in the GOP primary runoff, and is helping two challengers hoping to unseat tea party Republican House incumbents.

LOGA and Chamber of Commerce are both thinking of backing Mary.

I've already jumped on the Mary train but it's for business reasons (clients via pocketbook). I understand people not voting for her though.
