How does LSU stand to make out financially in Houston?

I've searched and cannot find any information on this, but how does LSU stand to make out playing in Houston as opposed to playing in Tiger Stadium? My thinking is that the sponsors would make it close to what we would make playing the game at home if not more. any help is appreciated.

What do you mean not a chance?
Probably more
We made more than a home game against Oregon. Alabama got way more last year

wouldn't shock me if we did make a little more profit, definitely less overhead in this option

TV money, higher ticket prices, more premium seating, more advertisements, ect

Less overhead is the big one I see. There are a lot less sunk costs like electricity, security, clean up crews, concession waste, etc...

TV money and sponsorships. its the "Advocare" Texas Kickoff Classic. Im pretty sure Advocare paid a pretty penny for this sponsorship.

We get a lot of money to show up for these games. I think we got $2mm for Jerry World.

Well you are also taking away from all the local businesses that see a boost on gamedays.

I think these games we make more money which is why we agree to do it.
More money and we get to play in another state to show off for recruiting,

It is not LSU's concern or job to make sure local business make money.

These are the types of financial hits it takes to keep your program on top. Add in, its in Houston, where we want to increase our recruiting efficiency along with the national media exposure and it quickly becomes a no brainer. Another Alleva move paying off in more ways than one.

I think recruiting aspect is overrated. We've recruited Texas for years, Houston isn't far, and we play tam u now every other year there. Friends and family can see them play. So as far as playing in Houston, I don't really see that as a factor to recruits in Houston. Plus we may not play there again any time soon either way. With kids leaving in 3 years the chances of them playing in Houston for lsu will be slim.

Who says it is only about recruiting for the football team?
LSU is trying to attract out of state students too. Playing a big game against a solid new opponent every year helps with that. If Louisiana wants to keep that money, New Orleans should start a kickoff game

It may be, but you have to admit that it plays somewhat of a factor.
People hate these games but I think it's nice to get a fat check, beat up on a top tier opponent and play in front of our extended fan base is worth it.

I agree, but if you are a season ticket holder and a local business owner you would care.
I'm going to the game, but id rather them be in br.

Against Furman?

No Wisconsin.
Let's take 2011 for example. 6 home games yet the taff fees are the same whether you have 6 or 8. So you are paying more per ticket for shittier games. You won't be able to give tickets away this year except for Ole miss and bama. Just terrible.

Would have preferred Wisconsin home & home over Houston and Lambeau.
