Watched Lucy last night

I thought this movie had some potential. I enjoy most every movie Morgan Freeman played in, and his role as a neuroscientist in this one, although small, was again great. The plot intrigued me... "What are the possibilities if we were somehow able to use more than 10% of our brain?" The ending of the movie was anticlimactic. The buildup just fizzled into nothing, literally. Anyone else watch it?

We already know, because it's a myth that we only use 10% of our brain

This is why i won't be able to take this movie seriously. It's only a myth we use only 10% of our brain.

Oh yea? Then why don't I have superpowers? Answer me that.

How can anyone be certain of this? I'm not saying that I know for a fact whether we do or we don't use only 10%, but how are you so sure that it is a myth?

Scruffy is a super janitor. That's Scruffy's super power. Stop being greedy.

not to mention that the movie posits that being able to use more than 10% of your brain would give you the ability to defy gravity, slow down time, be telekenetic, and whatever else they show in the trailers. Seems like a load of hogwash. At least limitless had some realism to the effects of enhanced cerebral activity.

Agreed. I wish they would have stuck to something more in the lines of the movie Phenomenon or Limitless.

100% brain capacity. Still a shitty actress.

Yeah I agree it was a bit much when she became a god. I can ignore the 10% thing but her powers got ridic.

Limitless 2: This time with a chick

Except her brain could defy physics for some reason

Even if you accept the science-fantasy that is Lucy... The movie was pretty by the numbers. Instead of having Morgan Freeman narrate and explain the movie, they inserted him into the film as a scientist who seemed to have the same access to the script as a narrator.
Really nothing special. Not a great role for Johannson. I just didn't care about this robotlike Lucy person.

Spot on. Her character's lack of emotion made me not care either. I really didn't care if she got shot or whatever. The big finale of her seeing the universe got tiresome pretty quick.

I thought it was we only use our brain 10% at a given time. Why would we need to use 100% all the time. In a vehicle if we used 100% we would be using the break and gas pedal at the same time or forward and reverse at the same time.

I have my doubts about our limitations. I'm not so certain that we are using our brains to it's full capacity. Maybe intrinsically we are, but with outside influences, I don't doubt that the bar can be raised. Take for instance glucose. Deprive our bodies of it, and we see neuroligic changes. From irritability to stupor and even coma or death. While hyperglycemia doesn't necessarily improve our senses, there are drugs/medications out there that do. This movie seemed completely farfetched, but I do believe the potential for improved brain function (% of brain use) could be out there. The world was once thought to be flat.
