Wife and I are going to possibly be in Dallas this weekend and I saw that they have their restaurant week going on. Any recommendations from this list?

Apparently it is something to benefit the North Texas Food Bank. Looks like a lot of restaurants offer up a special menu for $35 per person. A few are $45.

Figured I'd bump this one time to see if the weekday crowd has any recommendations.

Looks like a list of second tier places for the most part but there are a few good ones on the list.

Thanks.

We're actually headed over that way for a little weekend getaway for our anniversary. Any recommendations outside of the restaurant week thing? Also interested in hotel recommendations as well.

For Mexican food hit Mia's on Lemmon Ave. (not mia coccina)
Boulevardier is a bistro in Bishop Arts area....you should go down there regardless. Its a really cool area of Dallas with several good restaurants and bars. Wild Detectives is a coffee shop/ craft beer spot in an old house down there. They sell pie from Pie Emporium there that is incredible. I usually drink at Ten Bells Tavern down there but it is a bit hipster. Oddfellows is a good breakfast/ lunch spot and Eno's Pizza is a good drinking spot. I used to like the pizza there but it has gone downhill. Tillmans Roadhouse is another good bar/ casual food place.

For BBQ, Pecan Lodge is one of the best in Texas. But the lines can get long. They are open for dinner on Thurs, Fri and Sat though which is unusual for the good BBQ places. Not sure how crowded it is at dinner.

Lower Greenville has come back from the dead and is pretty happening on the weekends. Blind Butcher is a meat-centric gastropub, Truck Yard is an big outdoor bar that is packed all the time, Teppo Sushi is my favorite sushi, Libertine is a cool bar and a couple of craft beer places I like. Beer Kitchen and Bottle Shop. All those places are within 100 yards of each other but parking is a bitch.....parking is a bitch anywhere in Dallas though.

Hotels I'm not an expert on. Usually when people I know visit they either stay with us or have family in the area. The Omni, The Joule and W Hotel are good ones downtown. The Melrose is the type of hotel I like. Its an old art deco building, nice hotel with an old bar off the lobby. It's in Uptown and convenient to a lot of stuff. Hotel Palomar is across the freeway from SMU. Then The Belmont is in Oak Cliff, near Bishop Arts and another area of restaurants called Trinity Groves. Belmont has a good bar that locals go to.

Are you here this weekend? Weather is going to be great....nice and cool. I can recommend live music if you tell me what you like. Here is the local music/food/ event weekly that you can peruse... Dallas Observer

My original post was probably confusing but when I said "this" weekend I was referring to the weekend of restaurant week. Not this coming weekend.

Thanks for all of the information though. I appreciate it!

The Grape is a chef owned little place that flies under the radar because it has been around forever....In Dallas, "if it ain't new it ain't sh*t." It is actually on its 3rd owner over the past 20 years....the previous owners retired and sold to a chef they respected. The current chef has been named the best in Dallas by one of the local magazines for what thats worth. They do make a burger but it's only on certain days. But the rest of their menu really good.
