i didnt think it was that bad. the ending sucked but most of it was pretty good.

i absolutely loved the way they told the story and the transitions. it was a unique way to tell the story. but like i said, it all fell apart with the ending.

You are wrong sir. The transition from past to present was really cool. It ended on an unhappy note (unlike that stupid Conjuring movie). You already said you are not a fan of the horror genre. Maybe you should stick to the cupcake horror movies like The Conjuring.

The entire final act of the movie was an utter disaster. The ending was so absurd and obvious that half of the audience was laughing.

A really terrible movie IMO.

No I love the genre, I just understand it contains the least amount of quality

You said in a previous thread you didn't like the genre. I'm not saying it was perfect, but it was very inventive.

You must be mistaken. I love a great horror movie second only to a great sci fi movie

I just think the genre has an incredible amount of terrible and great, good or even average movie is scarce. I can name like 10 horror movies I like, but I love them.

Fair enough, but are you going to sit here and defend that ending?

The acting is never good in horror movies. It Definitely was not good in The Conjuring. I've seen more horror movies than I can count. I believe Oculus is inventive in many ways. It requires some thinking. It's different.

Yes. What about the ending did you not like? It's a horror movie. That's what they are. They're crazy and I did not find it predicable. The Conjuring, now that was predicable.

I realize this, but it's rarely this bad

They weren't stiff, they just sucked

Fair enough. I thought Katee Sackhoff did well enough, but this movie was more about the transitions and inventiveness. My only complaint, I wanted more mythology and story about the mirror.

The time jumps/splicing could've been good if "the rules" weren't so inconsistent

I'm going to watch it again tonight. I'll look for some of the things you guys are talking about. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember it being fairly consistent.

You mean to tell me that it never occurred to you when they introduced the falling spike in a room with a mirror that distorted realty that it would kill one of them? It was beyond obvious.

And the most egregious thing was the girl walking up to the demon mirror to hug the parent she knew was dead. Not only was the ending set up in the most obvious way possible, but they have to throw salt in the wound by making the sister do something so absurd that the entire theater started laughing.

Is there a horror movie you do like?

Yup. I typically enjoy even mediocre horror movies, this was just an exception.

Additionally the characters understand the rules as per their own words

Yet still don't get how to destroy it. That's the pact IIRC, yet she attempts to document and somehow beat the mirror that has killed everyone who has owned it?
