We now live in the nation of the offended. Words are more of a crime than actions in the eyes of the internet mob. I guess the NFL has jumped on board.

Good job Goodell.

quote:

How? How in the world did we get to a place where the NFL conducts a rigorous investigation of Richie Incognito's text messages, but lets a player knock out his fiancee and barely lifts a finger? Where Josh Gordon faces a season-long suspension for smoking too much weed, but violent felons are free to play with limited punishment. Ray Rice is the flashpoint today, but this isn't so much about Ray Rice as it is the NFL's untenable position on punishments for violence. It's an upside down NFL world. Violence against women is acceptable, words or non-violent acts are often unacceptable. It's an infuriating and stupid and indefensible double standard, the exact opposite of what should happen. Violent acts should be punished infinitely more severely than non-violent acts or words.

well he is right

Goodell is such a pussy.

It's so fricked up the nfl trots around in pink for a whole month acting like they care about woman. Only reason that exists is for PR IMO

If they gave a damn about women or had a social conscience Rice would be out over a year

America is soft, God is viewed as offensive, people deserve 3rd and 4th chances, and everyone has to be equal.

This backlash is bad news for Panthers fans. Goddell is gonna hammer Greg Hardy for PR purposes.

Im all for giving people multiple chances, especially when there behavior is such it harms themselves. What Rice did is different and it sets a terrible standard.

I can agree with that. Although some people do not deserve any second chances but some, like you said need a few.

Well I think its been more generalized by saying that violence is ok when offensive words aren't. But now that you mention it....

I agree with everything this article says. Goodell is shaping the NFL so ass-backwards its embarassing.

Same thing applies to the NBA.

Choke out your coach? Punch random fan in the stands? 1 season suspension.

Tell your mistress to not advertise having sex with black guys? Banned for life.

Not sure how Roger was talked into only 2 games.

You can bet for sure someone is gonna leak the tape of the actual punch in the near future. 2 games is absurd.

Are people really this dumb or are you just agenda driven against the NBA? Male on male crimes btw, both of them.

Well, to be fair, domestic situations are little bit tricky, especially if the spouse has forgiven and is still with him. The NFL should have known 2 games would be seen as too light, though.
