Yes. You never use Esquire when referring to yourself.

I've never met a cool, good, or well-educated lawyer who attached Esq. to himself or herself.
On a separate note, black attorneys in the South always seem to call other attorneys "Attorney ______" and occasionally refer to themselves as that. Not sure why I thought of it, but it always struck me as kind of funny because I'm not sure where it comes from.

Oh don't get me started on the people who put 4 worthless certification abbreviations behind their names. Errybody is a professional now.

The biggest tool bags in State Government attach Esq to their names. I like it because it helps me identify the idiots.

What's a worthless cert.

The only time I've seen people use Esq. where it didn't seem dumb is for attorneys who are doing favors for people outside of a firm, but they wanted to relay that they're attorneys.
Like writing a letter to some company hassling your grandma on your own time. I doubt I'd do it, but I've seen other people do it and I understand what they're trying to do.

AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, STFUDB
Every time they take a continuing ed. class, they get 4 more letters to put behind their names.

Anything easy to get that doesn't really garner additional money or respect in your craft.
