New project by Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez of "At the Drive-In" and "The Mars Volta" fame. Flea appears on a few of the songs.
I know their single dropped awhile back but I found the entire album through other means and can't stop listening to it. I bought my ticket to see them in Houston on August 4th and, if they bring even 1/4th of the energy the Volta show I saw, it will be incredible.
"Drown All Your Witches" has got a Zeppelin-vibe to it but my favorite on the album is "Momento Mori"

I bought the EP. It's OK, but it doesn't have the weird jams on it that Francis the Mute and Amputechture had. I haven't gotten around to downloading the album....the deal was buy the EP, get the album for free.
I'd be interested in seeing them if they came around here. I saw Mars Volta play in New Orleans at one of those Jazz Fest night concerts in 2005 and they brought it. Plus, they played the Doctor Who theme as the intro or outro music, which made me happy.

It's definitely a change in pace and style from their TMV years; not as disjointed and "hard".
I still enjoy hearing Cedric experimenting with his vocals and the difference in play style Omar is using.

I love The Mars Volta until after Bedlam. This Antemasque stuff is ok. I'll have to give the album another listen. I think they've lost the magic. I can't ever get the joy from their new stuff that I got from their old stuff.
In 2005 they played at The Orpheum. It was an awesome show. The intro music is form Fistful of Dollars. Not sure about your Doctor Who reference.

That Orpheum show was the one I went to. Maybe they left to the Doctor Who theme. I would bet cash money it was played at one time that night.

Saw "Antemasque" last night at Fitzgerald's in Houston and the energy Omar and Cedric put out was insane.
I'd recommend the show to anyone.
