When did VRBO start to suck?

Looking for a last minute beach rental and see that site has gone to absolute crap. You used to be able to see accurate calendars, interface with actual independent owners, etc. now the site is just one big clusterF.

My last rental I interacted directly with the owners. I haven't had a bad experience yet.

If you are looking for gulf coast beach deals, some of that is due to the fact that there aren't as many deals to be had because the economy is doing well.
The condos and hotels are full all summer. Even the shitty Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis is getting $200 a night or more pretty much every weekend through September because of their lazy river.

Where I off to? I do last min 3-4 times a yr and call the local beach companies. Easy to reach, have details immediately, and have a sense if urgency to make a deal. Only use VRBO for stuff in advance.

I've used VRBO to rent condos and villas on three different islands. I've never had a problem and I always interact directly with the owner.

No.....I don't care about any special deal, just want more than an automated response with no follow up. It's crazy.....it seems like there is absolutely nothing available this weekend. Good call on airbnb, just signed up and checking out what they have.
