Who would those of you who live in the area recommend? I've heard good things about Bahm's Slaughter House in Husser. Anybody else?

Dont use Service, dont know the last time you used them KR but it has gone way down hill. Took forever to get our deer back last time and some of the sausage was bad. We use to bring them cattle back in the day when we wanted one slaughtered, its a far cry from back then.

Only guy I know that does a good job and is not expensive as shite is the ole boy in Husser. My cousin has a slaughter house in Robert but dont think he is excepting deer, if he does I will let the board know.

Dont bring it to Sias, good price on fillets not so good on deer.

Friends use cutrers in kentwood. I use Fortenberry in crossroads, it's a little drive but WELL worth it. I gave Bruce a try two years ago and will never go there again. I'm not going into details but I was not happy and will not recommend him.

Damn that's sad to hear about Bruce. There is another place around jarrel rd that butchers, don't know about deer though.

My bil. Uses. A guy in ponchatoula or independence and he does good. I'll ask what his name is.

If you can drive to Double D in Bogalusa they ok. But debone it yourself. They use a deboning machine that leaves bits of bone sometimes.

I've had good luck with Saia's in Mandeville.

Service meats is ok but their casings were a bit hard. Havent used them in 2 yrs though. They get backed up very quick when deer season opens and sometimes turn you away when they get full. Call ahead.

Good luck.

You're getting a deer processed in the middle of July?

I have no issues with Bruce as he's a family friend. He has great turn around time and is the cheapest I've found. Sorry you had a bad experience with Bruce

I don't know Bruce, but it sounds like Bruce needs to tighten up on his operation.

I will kill one soon and give Bruce a try. If he's a family friend, he won't object to some preseason practice.

I keed I keed.

I have used Bruce withno complaints but I have only gotten italion sausage from him.I bring some to DD but I only have ground meat done 70% deer 30% ground chuck. The rest of my sausage I have made at Fortenberry's in carrier Missippi.I will be bringing some deer to fortenberrys in a couple of weeks.

I do mine myself. Before I did this I used Service meats pretty much for all my deer. Then my whole family got sick from some of the sausage. I now do all my game myself, not worth having kids and wife sick.

Things may be different, and I could be just the odd guy that got sick but I won't chance it again.

Bruce is a great guy, but I won't go back. Brought him 2 deer in 2012, was supposed to be made into crawfish sausage, smoked sausage, and the rest ground meat- all vacuum sealed. When I picked up, it was ALL ground meat, and ALL in freezer paper. No compensation for the screw-up, just a "Sorry!".
