What's the reason or was it really explained that Walt wanted all 10 guys killed in a 2 minute window?
Was he worried that the DEA would catch on and try to protect the other guys if he didn't get to all 10 in time?

Yeah, no doubt but Skyler was the cautious one. Walt went all Hesienberg with the maxed out 300 Chrysler. That's not Skyler's style.

Yes.
And, it also served as adding mystique/badassedness to his legend. Remember when Huell and Bill were laying on the money in the storage shed and Huell says "Mexico...allz I'm saying" and Bill replied "He hit 10 guys in a 2 minute window...allz I'm saying...".
