Capital One Checking/Savings setup bonus?

My wife and I are going to be setting up our bank accounts, and was wondering if there are any promotions going on right now. I haven't seen any in the mail or online.
I got something from Chase that is a $200 bonus for setting up checking and $200 for opening a savings with $15,000 for new customers. We have been with Capital one since our parents opened accounts for us over 10 years ago. Are banks able to "match" promotions like the one Chase is offering? I have no problem switching to Chase for $400, but all my stuff is currently with Cap One and I'd rather keep it there.

I've got 2 $500 vouchers for Chase.... I've heard people are selling them
I may use one and sell one
I don't know of anything with Cap One and I doubt they'd match an offer...

I will say this...
Chase is a real bank.
Capital One is a credit card company that is trying to be a bank

So what needs to happen to transfer money from Cap One to a new Chase account? Do I need to do anything other than walking into the Chase branch and having them do everything?

I've currently got a Whitney and Cap One account... Considering closing the Whitney to open a Chase and get the $500 incentive.

This is an ignorant statement. Are you saying that one of the ten largest banks in the U.S. by assets and deposits isn't a real bank?
Regarding the OP, I doubt that capital one would match any offer by chase.

In actually thinking about doing this myself. What's this incentive...? They really just handing out 500$? Im assuming there's a catch

You have to be invited and have the code they provide... For some reason, they have sent me two of them with two different codes. Apparently people are selling them
Have to open with 15k balance and initiate direct deposit within 90 days. I think there is a $15/mo service fee and you have to keep the account for 6 months to retain the $500. But then you can just downgrade to a normal acct.

I really dislike capital one.....
.....the customer service is parallel to comcast.

That doesn't make your assertion any less ridiculous.

So smaller regional banks aren't actually banks either?
You said capital one isn't a real bank. What makes a real bank?

I don't know, but by his definition, BONY is more of a real bank than capital one. Have fun opening that personal checking account.
