I doubt they use it, they probably just filed to keep the budget airlines like Spirit from using it.

That looks impressively uncomfortable.

Glad I always fly business class.

If there was an air taxi service, where an automated "plane" could pick you up where you were currently located and fly you to your destination (eliminating airports, TSA, etc), would you be:

thats a dumb question. not really plausible now. they dont have a ground service for that yet. I know they have cabs, but you cant call checkercab and say yeah, I need a ride to the grocery store, the mall, and then san antonio.

Well, if you're in or around San Antonio you probably could do it pretty easily.

But I didn't ask you to figure out the practicality of it, did I?

For the sake of discussion, let's say it would cost twice the amount of an airline flight for the same distance.

By "where you are located", do you mean the city airport or your physical location?

Similar to taxis. Arriving at whatever street address you specify.

Wouldn't be horrible for very short flights (Houston to Dallas), except for when you get stuck on the runway for an hour waiting to take off.

Sure it would be fun, until you hit some turbulence and you see your wife smiling like you haven't made her in 20 years. Then frick that plane!

They can patent it all they want, they can even build them into planes if they choose. But that doesn't mean the FAA is going to allow a commercial carrier to fly them in the US or even land a plane with those at one of our airports. I am thinking there are going to be serious crash worthy issues.

Obviously that would be a good service but it's kind of silly to talk about
