Louisiana is Happiest State

Alabama doing ok in football for sure, but just wait till CLM employs this graphic to show how better life is in Louisiana...like anyone needs the Wall Street Journal to conclude that!

laissez les bon temps rouler - and Geaux Tigers!

take up your intellectual issue with the list with the WSJ. I'm sure you have a much better formulation, for sure...

You did read the article and recognize the fact that the WSJ did not formulate the list.. right?

quote:

That’s according to data coming from a working paper by Harvard professor Edward Glaeser, Vancouver School of Economics professor Joshua Gottlieb and Harvard doctoral student Oren Ziv. They used data collected in a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey called the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, and then adjusted it for age, sex, race, income and other factors.

Using good ole common sense, there is no way in hell Shreveport/Bossier and Alexandria are both in the top 5 happiest cities in the nation. Perhaps the idea that some random CDC list would be valid for determining happiness is flawed..

Same city as you. I don't believe that you can tell me Shreveport is the 2nd happiest city in the nation with a straight face.

The scary thing is you thought this through and still said "I believe this is so good subject for a thread"

Based on my reading of numerous past studies I would have, indeed, expected Louisiana to dominate. Other studies have shown that warmer climates, darker people, and family or tribal centric cultures are the happiest. Those are empirical facts.

Spend any time on the road and you will meet some miserable fricks, most if em are not from La, that's my scientific poll. States with miserable people: Miss, Arkansas, Oklahoma, nY, and Va come to mind. Happy people: La, ga, Mn, SC, NC
