Looking at flights in october from Monroe to Charlottesville round trip. I make this trip a few times a year.

Last year I flew this exact trip for $230 and this was about the time I booked the flight last year.

I'm not seeing much for less than $550

Am I doing something stupid or have the prices really jumped this high?

That's a pretty good price for out of Monroe. My trips to the east coast average about a grand. I am usually getting them within a week or so of the flight date though...

supply and demand, airlines are getting some payback for all those years of giving their product away, unfortunately the idiots that run them will squander it all away

No. Airfare has been fairly level as far as I can tell. I think someone started a thread to that effect a couple of weeks ago with some data to back it up.

Try booking on a Tuesday.

always shop for tickets on tuesday mornings. They are cheapest then. I thought it was a lie but you can save hundreds.

I agree with you. This is about when I booked my ticket home for Xmas last year and it's at least double so far this year. I keep checking on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for deals but not having too much luck recently. I'm contemplating driving to close places that I would normally fly to, like Dallas or Atlanta.

I've done the trip out of Jackson before but those aren't much cheaper. not worth the gas and parking fees

My wife tells me that flights are cheaper if you search for them on Tuesday....I have no idea what she is basing that on or if it will save you that much, but wait until this Tuesday and give it a try

this was predicted when Alfred Kahn deregulated the industry, the ones left standing are the ones that were powerhouses back then, with a couple of exceptions

I saved 230 bucks booking on a tuesday.

Checked it the next day same flight was 170 bucks more.

Checked the next day it was back to the original price.

Agree. MLU-CHO has seen a big jump over the last two years. Check out Richmond. Sometimes the difference is enough to justify the one hour drive.

Also, US Air out of Jackson used to beat Delta out of Monroe by a good bit, but not anymore.

how far out in advance do you guys think is a good time to check?

Could it be that I am looking into it a bit too early?
