Chevrolet 6.0 vortec

Game set match. Any other answer is wrong.

Except for the 8.1, but you won't find that.

They make good money if you are willing to work hard. I work for a logistics/transportation company and see it first hand on a daily basis.

There is an 8.1 Avalanche for sale in the dirty dell right now. Check New Orleans CL

I drove another 6.0 today, and am still impressed with the power they have over the 5.3. Maybe it is the torque management, but IDK. They just feel much more powerful

I'll still let you drive my z06, but:

6.2 > *

Not sure if you get it in a GM 3/4, though.

I'm not financially stable enough to leave where I'm at and drop $60k+ on a rig and jumping in head first in something I know nothing about.

The 6.2 is a bad mofo but cant get it in 3/4. You can get the 6.2 in 1/2 ton though.

Put a programmer, intake, exhaust and the 6.0 will be close to the 6.2.

He payload capacity of the 2014 2500 Rams with the rear coils is a joke.

For hauling? Not the new ones, they switched to a coil spring rear axle. It's not like a mattress spring, obviously, so it can handle some weight...but payload is sacrificed. The PW also comes at a premium compared to a standard 2500 bc it is geared toward off-roading more so than hauling. You'd be better off in a regular Ram 2500 with the 6.4.

Hard to not recommend a 6.0 Vortec as mentioned. Aftermarket support is good and they are easy to find. It's a solid motor.
