What are your solutions/plans to fix the child immigration issue?

Nothing without a 100% secure border. It starts here, then there are discussions of legal immigration to the greatest country in the world through the proper channels.

Follow the chain of responsibility:
1. The parents. They cannot just drop a kid off and expect a foreign country to pick up the tab.
2. Mexico. They are Mexicans citizens which means any state sponsored support should start with Mexico.
3. We (the US) can provide basic support at border facilities until either 1 or 2 steps up to the plate.

45 years ago tomorrow, we landed on the moon. It's been 69 years since we dropped the first atomic bomb to end WW2.
I'm confident we have the innovation, technology, and means to secure our borders in 2014. We just lack the backbone to do so. I would dig a hole 50' deep and 200' wide on our side of the Rio Grande and rest of the border. The land is useless today, so giving up this surface area doesn't concern me. Next, I would construct a 40' high fence the entire length of the border. The border would have manned posts every half mile with video surveillance the entire way. I'd use prospective immigrants as the manual labor to construct the border and it would be known that their immigration/ citizen status depends on their work to secure our country. 2. Take those buses, planes, and trains full of illegals and send them in the opposite directions: towards the border
3. Improve screening for citizenship for all government-funded welfare services
4. Increase penalties and fines for businesses that knowingly hire illegals or fail to run background checks on new employees
5. Build a wall/fence/barrier on the border
6. Improve/increase border security (drones and agents)
7. Send an invoice to Mexico

Well for one thing, it's more than "children" coming across. There has been MS-13 Graffiti and a Muslim prayer rug all found here in Arizona. Put the guard on the border then we can chat.
