Great read. I happen to know Y.A. very well. Spent some time with him, been to his house, met the whole family. Great people. Y.A. is every bit as kind and noble as you would expect.

It will be a sad day when he passes.

I only have one thing to point out about the article, though:

quote:

"The blood picture," he calls it. He hates it.

He actually doesn't hate it. He keeps copies and gives them out, autographed, frequently. I have two. One for the office and one at home. I didn't even ask for them. He insisted I have them.

goddamn water works. Those in my generation grew up hearing about Y.A. Legends like him are what endeared me to LSU. To hear of him in his current state reminds me of my Family members who had the same affliction. His daughter is a saint. God Bless Y.A.Tittle.

Good read, my grandpa roomed with him while at LSU. My grandpa was the back up qb, needless to say he didn't play much but later transferred to play baseball and football.

It was a really cool idea, at the time they developed Tigerland, to name those streets as they did. Too bad, I suppose, nobody had the foresight to see what a shithole the entire area would become.

They should definitely retire his number this season. He doesn't have much longer and regardless of whether he makes the trip for ceremony - it needs to happen.

Not ashamed to say this read caused my eyes to tear and swell up. Just a wonderful read. This sportswriter did an amazing job. Should be a novelist. God Bless YA Tittle...an American Football Hero
