re: Assasins Creed Unity Discussion

This game is unplayable for me, even with setting at low the lag is horrible, when trying to turn it jumps so instead of a small turn I end up doing a 180. This is the worst launch of a game I have ever seen.

I pulled my 2nd video card and updated to the beta driver and that seems to have fixed things as far as lag goes.

French people really are the worst. I haven't dealt with a French person for almost a year and I don't remember what he was saying but OMg it was stupid.

Yeah this game is so wacked out. Sid, Bird, and I were attempting to do a heist and it was such a disaster. Lag everywhere, birdman couldn't be revived and no one could open chests.

Not gonna spoil the specifics, but the ending is so weak.

And kind of predictable.

Lol, I deserve that after endlessly reviving you.

I had to pull the 2nd card because my xfire didn't like any of the new updated drivers and since I am switching I didn't feel like trouble shooting it. I run pretty well on high settings with Unity now.

It's one of many soul-sucking industries that take advantage of the eager. It's a similar situation in journalism. Back when I thought I wanted to be a journalist, I quickly learned that because there were so many Mass Comm and English majors who want to be writers, the pay was shite and the hours long. It was actually a goal to become a salaried worker at the metro paper to make that big $35k/year salary and work 50+ hrs a week. The video game industry sounds so much worse though, because you work even longer hours and pretty much never have job security.

But I've said it before. The reason the industry is this way is because games are cheaper than they've ever been, margins low, so deadline extensions are more costly. The Assassin's Creed games are ambitious, too. It's one thing to annualize crap like COD and Battlefield, but when you look at what Unity at least attempted to achieve, there aren't enough hours in the day to polish something like that under a Call of Duty schedule.

FYI, if you ever find a game not working well under Crossfire and/or SLI, you don't have to physically remove the card. You can either disable xfire/sli through Catalyst Control Center/NVIDIA Control Panel, or even better, disable it for that specific game.

I would load the new driver with catalyst control and CCC would crash and not even launch. It wasn't the 2nd card that wouldn't work, it was everything.
