They still haven't hired a new coach a couple of months after their season was over not bothering to get one before draft day. On top of that you don't even hear any rumored names for the job

Then they come out today (July 14 mind you) and say they look to have a coach hired in the next "week or two".

Am I missing something here? Someone able to explain to me why they are wasting all this time seemingly unconcerned about who will end up coaching their team?

Their coaching situation has been a clusterfrick since Phil left IMO

Them having no coach during free agency makes zero sense

They dug themselves into a deep hole with the Kobe contract.

They are basically in rebuild mode. Randle was a nice grab. They'll go for a top 5 pick next year, dump Lin's salary, and test FA

I think they were trying to attract star free agents and let them help pick the coach once they came there.

I know they are smarter than me but if I was a free agent in high demand I certainly wouldn't want to sign a contract with a team when I had NO CLUE who my coach would be

Maybe they figure their going to suck regardless of who the coach is, idk

Seems like they are looking to have max cap space possible once Kobe's contract is up by hoarding salary dumps

The new Buss is what's happening. Wish we'd let the daughter take over.

The answer is Jim Buss. He doesn't care about winning. He doesn't know how. All he wants is money.

Will they be able to make a run at Durant in 2016?

They'll have shitloads of cap space next season and can have only Randle (at under $3m) on the books in 2016 if they want.

Yeah...

They are looking at Rondo, M. Gasol, Love, and Durant over the next couple of off seasons I would think.

Will try to land at least one.

Durant does not seem like the kind of guy that would want to play in LA.
