I know this isn't an auto board, but I figured it's the closest thing. What I am wondering is if I can run a different brand tire than the rest of the 3 tires that I have. I currently have pro comp all terrains. Can I throw a different brand tire on there with the 3 pro comps and not have any problems? I have to replace because the nail is right near the edge. TIA

Yes you can as long as they're the same size and load rate. I'm not positive about all terrains, but this is what I was told when I bought a new tire for my old Tahoe.

Just plug it. I've plugged edges and even a sidewall with no issues.

I don't necessarily care about looks. I did when I was in high school, but I don't really care what anyone thinks about the look.

Most of the time there are no issues, but if you do, it can be explosive and very dangerous.

Sidewall, I'll agree, but I don't think there is any danger to plugging the "edge" of the tread.

Plugs are designed to grip the belts inside the tire below the tread. Obviously on the sidewall, or at the very edge of the tread, there is not enough substance for the plug to grip to. He is smart in replacing the tire.

I would get a new tire and then use that tire as your spare when you're ready to change the other 3.

I'm 60, but still have style. Seems it's a wash being as he's being told to replace it as I would have done in the first place.
