Many might dislike the guy but it's been hard to discount the excitement in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. He's so big he's moving political conventions.

GOP might have to change convention dates if Cavs in finals.

No. if the athletes don't get it, the owners will and I would rather see the athletes get it.

LeBron is severely underpaid. He would make 9 figures a year in an open market with no salary cap or restrictions.

He might be close to that before taxes with salary, endorsements, and appearances.
But I agree. If basketball had baseballs system, Lebron would be making hundreds of millions in salary.
They were saying on CNN that all the hotels were booked for Cavs home games in like 12 hours. The amount of energy his sheer presence injects into the local economy is pretty mind blowing.

Only in this county would sports take precedence over government.
And not that I necessarily disagree, in light of the fact that ours has become essentially out of touch and non-existent in many ways.

Anyone who says professional athletes are overpaid need to educate themselves before sounding like complete morons.

Reading all that was pretty mind blowing.

No wonder Warren Buffet said he wanted to invest in Lebron

It's a different way of saying something that is unquestionably true: sports and entertainment are too important in western culture.

It's not just western culture. So we shouldn't value entertainment?

If anything they are underpaid.

I think pro athletes are underpaid.
They can way less than their market value.

See first reply. Ditto.
No, their pay is not relative to the amount of work they do, but it's the players who drive the revenues. That's pretty obvious.
Just unfortunate that low professions such as athletics and acting are at the forefront of society these days. The Romans knew to keep them low on the social scale. Now, we all have to put up with their superficial, narcissistic and really stupid bullshite.

Yes, but not to the extent we do currently. We should be interested in spending time more productively, solving problems that benefit our communities, helping people, etc. I'm guilty, but it's a goal.
