Just leased mineral rights. What are the chances, or give me a percentage, that this ends up paying off besides the signing bonus?? Thanks in advance.

Where'd you lease? We have land in Walker,LA.

Well the chance is anywhere between 0% and 100% depending on your exact circumstances.

Uhh... if there is oil or gas under your land that is easily accessible, chances are pretty good.
Without knowing that... who knows.

How much was the signing bonus?

They wouldn't lease it if they didn't think something was there, huh???

It doesn't mean they'll drill it though. Where is it, and who leased it?

This! Huge sums of money were paid in bonus money for leases in the Haynesville shale that were never drilled.

There's really no answer to that question. But that company operates a lot of wells so they're not some fly-by-night outfit.

Companies buy leases for a lot of reasons, sometimes just to have it so a competitor can't. If the land has to be shot for seismic you should get some money for that as well if you own the surface rights.
