GIANT ground wasp?!!!!

My neighbor has these giant yellow jackets that have nested under his flower bed.

These things are so fricking big, when I first saw a couple of the huge ones, I thought they were hummingbirds.

Anyone know what these are? They don't seem to be very aggressive, but they do have giant stingers on them.

If they scare your kids just get a tennis racket and have at it. That's what I did in my yard. They aren't aggressive at all but can be scary to the little kids or women.
