I don't buy it for a second. Giving him away for nothing is better than stretching him. He's easily worth a 1 year trial at $2.4 million to one of the teams in rebuilding mode.

I fricking hope not. He was MUCH better last season. He'd be a senior in college this upcoming season. He has nowhere to go but up.

This would piss me off to no end.

You mean NO team in the league with 2.4 mill to spend or a TPE will just take him for free? I don't buy it.

This is a completely BS rumor, perhaps sourced by us. Working the low end of the trade market is one of the things he's got a good, if he can't even move Rivers for free... We traded a future 2nd for Xavier Henry and were excited about it at the time, some team has to have interest.

Why not? He's expensive for a bench warmer. His improvement has been minimal by NBA standards. Not to mention, the Pelicans don't want to take any salary back in a trade. I can see it.

He doesn't warm the bench at all, so your credibility is null.

dude was light years better this year than he was last year. and he's a pretty solid on ball defender. you can do much worse in a backup or 3rd string guard

Did you even watch him in the 2nd half of last season?

At his price, you can do better.

Yes, and it's not really all that impressive.

I figured Rivers was on his way out with our interest in Nelson and Daniels, but to get rid of him this way would be pretty dumb.

If we have to lose Rivers to get Asik, you do it in a heartbeat. Some of ya'll are giving Rivers way too much credit. He is an average bench player at best.

How is that a viable strategy?

"We are having a hard time giving away this guy! Strike while the iron is hot NBA!"

Asik is infinitely more important to this team than Rivers, but Dell better hope 2 things happen:
- Multiple people we're cutting ties with don't turn into competent NBA pros.
- Asik re-signs next summer.

I honestly don't know how Rivers gets PT this year without Reke at the 3. This may as well be a favor to him.
