From what I hear, fishing is decent. Lots of gators.

Anacoco is pretty good, less pressure than Vernon. I've always prefered Vernon though, probably because I know it better. Back when I lived there, we fished Vernon all the time, now when I make it over there its a non- stop to the Bend.

Whoa! Mine and TClay's back yard although TClay has gone on to NE Texas. Anacoco, just one n, used to be the bomb growing up. Catfish, breamses, bass, white perch plentiful. Grandmother and her sister used to sit on our dock in the middle of summer wearing a long dress, long sleeves and a bonnet, tearing up the bream with a cane pole. Huge catfish. TClays grandpaw was the master catfisherman there. Taught me some of his secrets, good guy. The lake went threw a transformation of late. For about a decade it was somewhat dead. Real muddy looking even without a rain or high wind. The state dropped it once and planted the whole lake by plane, and there was grain everwhere, and rats. Looks better now, caught some catfish last fall, but mainly duck hunt there. Its been restocked, and next year should be ripe for all types of fishing. Vernon is my go to bass lake though, and Toledo. Very shallow and a good bit of submerged stumps, becareful if you wander off the boat lanes.

Which of the two is better for the Crappies? Do they have black white or both?

Not off of here that I have figured out. I went to Anacoco, graduated in '03.

ETA: Alx- I have heard people doing good on Anacoco, but I've had more luck on Vernon.

Both are good, Vernon better now only because of the drawdown of Anacoco, but it'll come back. Caught some monster white perch on Anacoco.

I always thought of Anacoco Lake as more of a catfish lake with a good amount of white perch. It had bass, but was not known for producing lunkers.

Lake Vernon was always the better bass lake.

I graduated in 75, from the ville. TClay graduated in 99 I believe from the ville. You might know him. I hunted with him and his late father alot on Anacoco.

Not a lease, just build a blind and hunt it, and make sure you at least three hundred or so yds away from anybody else. Lots of blinds that are vacant you can use, if interested let me know, I can steer you in the right direction. Might know your folks if you are from Anachoclate.

Vernon was a pretty good all around lake for me. Lit of people swimming by the spillway during the summer. Anacocco was definitely full of stumps last time I was out that way. Probably 10+ years ago. Have a buddy from Sleezeville. Spent a lot of nights between Las Margaritas and Pegasus.
