bites him?

My neighbors dogs dug a small hole under the fence that I didn't know about. I hear a loud squealing and I instantly knew that my dog had gotten in their back yard. I have French bulldog and they have two big mutts. I jump up on the fence and see my poor little guy is pinned down getting tore up.

I jump up to get over and break the fence. So I run and bang on his door and he goes around and pulls him off.

Man one dog had him by the throat and the other by his butt.

I don't know how but he doesn't have any cuts or bites on his neck but his butt does and under his belly and his pecker are cut/scratched up (none of them bad enough where he needs stitches).

My 8 year old English bulldog died a month ago from an enlarged heart/heart attack I mean I would imagine this is exactly where a rabies shot comes in handy but bc of my last dog just passing away, and now this I just wanted to ask if there is still a chance he could get rabies even having had his shot. Because he was bit a number of times and those dogs are goofy as hell looking.

They more than likely don't have rabies. Animals with rabies don't last long.

Yeah, animals with rabies only last 10 days

I don't think you have much to worry about at all...if the neighbor's dogs had rabies, he would have already noticed them acting strangely...much more likely that your dog catch rabies from a racoon or skunk than another dog, IMO...

Well that's good to know. Bc those useless things have showed no signs of dying.

if you want to be super cautious, you can have your dog revaccinated for rabies. this is the protocol in high risk areas:

Management of Suspected Rabies Cases—Exposure of Pets
Where terrestrial wildlife or bat rabies is known to occur, any animal bitten or otherwise exposed by a wild, carnivorous mammal (or a bat) not available for testing should be regarded as having been exposed to rabies. The NASPHV recommends that any unvaccinated dog, cat, or ferret exposed to rabies be euthanized immediately. If the owner is unwilling to do this, the animal should be placed in strict isolation (ie, no human or animal contact) for 6 mo and vaccinated against rabies 1 mo before release. If an exposed animal is currently vaccinated, it should be revaccinated immediately and closely observed for 45 days.

All good info posted above. I'll be honest, if my own dog was bitten by 2 neighboring mutts I would probably not worry about revaccinating.

If just make sure and comb through the hair coat real well and make sure you didn't miss any cuts or bites. They're easy to miss. Watch the ones you know about to make sure they don't become infected- contrary to popular belief a dogs mouth is not clean. He'll probably be fine

He's got some pretty sensitive spots right now for sure. I'll try and comb him in a little bit, he's finally calmed down and getting some rest. He was shook up for a good 45 minutes.

Appreciate fellas
