Just saw several groups of them walking around on Royal and Esplanade. Guess this is the state and federal help Landrieu asked for after shootings. Glad to see it

Is manpower an issue for the NOPD? Or is it a distrust by Landrieu in regards to the NOPD? The asking in by a mayor of State controlled law enforcement whose role is not for in city policing is giving up control for one and will be a political liability at election time.

Manpower is the excuse.

The judges and juries are the problem.

The mayor asked for 100 state police to help with patrols and the gov sent 50.

But hey, there's a DWI checkpoint uptown tomorrow night.

Regardless of politics, I'm just glad something is getting done. I have also noticed the gutter punks have decreased significantly in numbers around quarter. Did police do something or do they die with the summer and come back in cooler temps or what?

The gutter punks better hide their dogs.

I'm sure the Troopers are thrilled about this.

It's getting too hot for the gutter punks. They go up north during the winter this time of year.

The question is how long will this go on? Is it an indefinite thing until Nola has enough officers to patrol the city? Or is this just pandering to the public after the mass shooting and they'll be gone in a week?

Do they still require officers to live within the city limits?

That rule was evidently changed about a month ago

It's always been a dumb rule when you pay peanuts. They can't afford to live in the city and you can't attract anyone from neighboring parishes.
