Books on the Debt of Nations

Mark Steyn had some good ones. "After America" I think was the one I read recently. It will leave you scared and is a sober picture of how broke we are historically, with lots of economic data behind its conclusions.

Representative Paul Ryan had very good videos on YouTube about our current and historical debt position too. I sent the link to my grandma when she told me the AARP lied to her that Republicans wanted to cut off Medicare. (If Medicare isn't reformed from its current state it won't exist in less than 5 years).

We'll totally collapse around 2021, when 100 percent of government spending is consumed solely by Medicare, Social Security and interest on the debt.

Steyn is what you want, more than Ryan.

I'm not familiar with the book you mentioned but will check it out.

After reading his reviews I am not so sure. It seems that it divides left and right pretty hard. Again I am not interested in that. I know where I stand on these welfare state issues, and I am not the sheep in the choir that shows up for every money and vote driven preaching act. Thanks for your help but I am unconvinced that After America is what I am looking for. I want hard hitting numbers, statistics, analysis backed up by examples from history. It's okay if it reads like a textbook.

Looks to be a loosely written book full of less the well supported claims. Amazon reviews are poor.

Looks like the best book I have seen yet. While it might not be comprehensive for my goals, it will set a nice base for further reading. Thank you.
