Every year comes down to 1 or 2 plays. If LSU is the one making the plays then we have a shot at a NC. If we give those plays up, we don't make it.
I think this team has a great chance to make those plays but it takes the players taking advantage of their skillsets and making the plays when they really count.

People are writing it off too quickly...great RB stable, returning 4/5 of the OL, and most of a young defense.
No one expected Auburn to be playing in Pasadena last year.

I think this every year... at least until some reality sinks in.
Last years defense did it for me. After a few games the handwriting was on the wall that the defense was just too decimated from draft losses to hold up its end. This year the D should be back and the offense has enough core to retool and Cameron is wiley enough to adapt to what is there.

QB play is the big question mark this year IMO. I really think our receiving corps will be ok if the Qb's can get the ball out and on target.
The defense should be solid at the least with the inside of the line being the big question there.
Everywhere else looks pretty damn solid.

I think that this year could be the year almost every year, well, at least since about 2002. I am usually cautiously optimistic, but I must admit I am a little less cautious and a little more optimistic this year. And much like many have said, I think 2015 has the potential to be one of if not the finest team LSU has ever put on the field, sort of 2011 but with a win in the last game.

This is absolutely false and pisses me off when people say this

That's 2 starters (Hawkins and Alexander) and Pocic who is basically a utility starter for us now. Josh Boutte is going to be an animal, and our class last year produced Brumfield and Clapp.

Sorry for the long post but,
Only 5 teams on the schedule this year that can match LSU in both talent and coaching:
1. Wisky (neutral site) - LSU's athleticism on D should slow the B10 style offense as usual, so it will come down to making big plays on offense. I think LSU will be explosive but inconsistent on offense early in the season, so as long as the D holds up, the Tigers should get enough big plays to win. LSU usually plays lights out in opening games too, we will soon see.
2. @ Auburn - toss up game on the road for the real Tigers, but I like LSU's chances against spread teams. Auburn was good last year, but also lucky... I think they're going to return to reality this year with some tough losses. LSU has a chance to give them a major reality check if the offense is playing more consistently by this game. I have confidence that Coach Cameron will get the offense playing well because when you have a solid offensive line to lean on, the QB and skill positions can come around quicker.
3. @ Florida - LSU should be a road favorite if they are playing up to their potential, but it's always tough to win in Gainesville. UF has struggled to say the least during the BOOM era. LSU should win with slightly better talent and far better coaching (IMHO).
4. Ole Miss - LSU should always beat them, but for some odd reason, Les likes to make these interesting, and Ole Miss has pulled a few high quality players in that could make a big difference for them in matching LSU's usually superior talent. At home, I like LSU's chances.
5. Bama - Only team with the same or better talent as the Tigers on both O and D across the field. The game is in Tiger Stadium with both breaking in new starters at QB. In Death Valley, it's tough on new QBs. On offense Bama's skill positions have more experience and talent, but LSU's line looks to be better this year (finally). Both defenses will need to play physical and fast, but under control to avoid giving up big plays... in other words, a typical Bama v LSU battle this year with offensive line talent flipped. Hope the good guys win at home with the crowd making it difficult for the Tide signal caller.
Honorable Mentions:
1. Miss St = in Tiger Stadium, they should be handled

I just don't see the Tigers losing more than 2 games, and if they beat Bama this year at home, they will likely earn a trip to Atlanta.

This team and its coaches are very hungry and determined. Hard to believe the press has little expectations of this LSU football team. 20-1 is a good bet imo.
