He is German. Why shouldn't he be happy?

I'm not insinuating anything to the contrary.

A shrug often means that one doesn't care, no?

I'm curious as to why you even started the thread then?

Because some Americans, like me, don't like it.

A congratulatory tweet is fine.

The guy played for and won a World Cup with Germany. Then he coached them to 3rd place. He's fricking German. Why wouldn't he be happy and why wouldn't he tweet about it?

If you don't like his coaching strategies or lineups, fine, but don't hate because he still loves his home country.

He gave some of those guys their shot with the national team and he's friends with Jogi. I'd expect him to be happy

A congratulatory, well played Germany, congrats to Joachim tweet would have been all good.

I would've done the same thing if I were him.

But he needs to remember he lives in America where everything is offensive and anti-American
