Black Belts primarily. Overrated? Approaches already embedded into most companies? Or is it still a big need?

It's the adult equivalent of busy work but on rare occasions it yields a good change.

Used to work with a six sigma dousche. Penn State grad who was a huge putz. The only thing lean about this guy was the amount of time between 5 o'clock and his exit for the day.

This.

They're very good at taking 2 hour lunches, calling meetings, and walking around with a clipboard, pointing at shite, and asking absurd questions.

And they're awesome at using buzzwords that really don't mean anything.

They kill me at my company. Apparently "lean operating" is being excited about a $10Mil backlog with nothing to show for the actual time of need.

The "cross fit" of the business office.

Yes...conceptually having a structured methodology towards process improvement is beneficial. However, I don't need to join a special club or pay some fee to know exercise is beneficial. The issue with Six Sigma is not the concept, it's the random assertion that because you know about it you are some sort of process guru.

Nerds.

Generally negative responses.

Why do you all think some corporate job ads require six sigma knowledge or certification?

Because big corporations have big useless HR departments that think it means something. Six Sigma will not make you a more productive employee.

I think it's a nice to have if coupled with experience. Like an actual karate black belt it can be detrimental and give false confidence to someone leading to a delusional person that'll get themselves or others hurt if left unchecked.

My favorite part of Six Sigma/Lean, is they're supposed to increase efficiency, and save money. But, just their mere existence in business is unnecessary, another layer of inefficient bureaucracy, and their salaries are the epitome of wasting money.
