Is Valerie Jarrett a great bargain for the US?

Jarrett only gets $172,200 per year to run the US. Compare that to the salaries of other world leaders:

David Cameron - UK - $240,000
Merkel - Germany - $394,000
Putin - Russia - $281,100

Are we getting a deal here?

If you think that's all that POS is costing this country, then you are SADLY mistaken.

Senior Advisor

I guarantee you though that she is the de-facto President. She makes the calls IMO, either her or George Soros

Right. I was just wondering what her "official" position is.

I have a question. What does Fidel Castro or Raul Castro get, what does the president of Viet Nam or North Korea get, What does Russia's leader get?

Whatever they darn well want. (Actually Putin's "official" salary is posted in the OP)

If she is under paid, Obama is over paid...

You do realize that 172 is the maximum allowed by law for Presidential staff? Obama's got almost 20 staffers making the maximum.

Interesting. Do we know what the numbers are for the last few terms?

The gist of the article in WSJ was that it's a high number. But I don't recall them siting Bush's number. I do recall one thing...out of the 16 or so staffers I only recognized the names of 3.

Most senior staffers in any administration are taking a significant pay cut to be in the job. They'll make it up once they move on, but $172,000 bucks isn't exactly balling for these people (especially in DC).

My dad and I were talking about that the other day. If their take home is 172k/year, what is the true cost to keep them employed (air travel, hotel, security [assuming they have security], etc.). I was thinking 1M per.

It is the speaking fees that come after they are out of office that counts.

Just ask Hillary.
